There’s a video/gif that’s been doing the rounds since 2014. It’s an adorable “walking” animation of a myosin protein dragging endorphins on a path to the brain.
Basically, it’s happiness at the microscopic level. Except, despite what you may have seen, it’s not.
John Liebler
It’s not that everything about this is wrong though. That IS an animation of a protein particle walking along a microtubule, just not a myosin protein. It’s instead a kinesin protein dragging a vesicle. This is any large part of a cell that’s too big to move around on its own as needed.
What you see is a myosin protein dragging an endorphin along a filament to the inner part of the brain’s parietal cortex which creates happiness. Happiness. You’re looking at happiness pic.twitter.com/x4VAXMWPs5

In the years since it was first created, this video has gone viral across a variety of forums. The animation was computer-generated in 3D by medical artist John Liebler much earlier, for a 2006 short film title “The Inner Life of the Cell”. Liebler says that, though it was just a side project, his partners on the film loved the (biologically accurate) animation so much they insisted he include it.
The kinesin protein being depicted is part of a class of motor proteins. Their job is to basically move synthesized molecules between different regions of a cell. However only kinesins have that particular walk, and they play a huge part in the contraction and expansion of muscles.
So what you’re seeing isn’t really the walk of happiness, it’s the motion of motion. But it’s still amazing.
For those of you who’ve been following me on instagram, you might have noticed me sharing pics from some open houses that Keith and I have been attending. We’ve been living in our 850 square foot condo for the last six years and while it’s been so good to us, it was time to upgrade into something more spacious. After months of looking in one of the hardest real estate markets in the world, we found a home and neighborhood that felt perfect for our needs. From the beginning, we wanted to stay in Brooklyn, but the more we kept on looking, the more defeated we felt. We considered and looked in Jersey City for awhile (I know, I know… “but you’re Brooklyn Blonde!) but in the end, we found a home in Brooklyn! This fall, we’re moving into a house and a fun fact about me, I’ve never lived in an actual house. Growing up, I lived in a 20-floor building and after that, I lived in other apartment and condo buildings. Aside from that, I’m so excited to decorate and I plan to share the entire process on Brooklyn Blonde!First things first, the closet… obviously. Keith and I made a little fair deal: he could turn the basement into his mix room/studio (he’s an Audio Engineer) and I could turn one of the rooms into a closet/mini office. I’m most excited for my clothes/shoes/bags/accessories to actually be visible! I’m not even going to get into how I have things stored at our current place, but trust me, it’s not cute or incredibly practical.

Above are some photos that are serving as some serious closet inspiration.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
