Dengan luas lahan 103 meter persegi, pasangan Nita dan Nausa Carnavian tak kehabisan ide untuk menciptakan hunian yang clean dan lapang. Konsep modern Japanese house menjadi pilihan.

PERENCANAAN yang matang dan pemilihan warna menjadi kunci. Untuk menghadirkan kesan luas, Nita dan Nausa menerapkan penempatan negative space atau ruang kosong. Jarak antarfurnitur diatur agak renggang. ”Kami terinspirasi rumah atau restoran Jepang yang clean dan rapi,” ujar Nausa yang begitu menggemari apa pun tentang Negeri Sakura.
Nita dan Nausa menata interior Ster House, rumah mereka yang dibangun tiga lantai (total luas 210 meter persegi) ini, dengan mempertimbangkan detail ukuran setiap barang yang diperlukan. Furnitur yang dipilih pun benar-benar disesuaikan dengan fungsi ruangan.
Ruang keluarga hanya diisi sofa. Meja makan juga dibuat menyambung dengan cooking area di dapur, yang menghadap langsung ke ruang keluarga.
Nausa dan Nita juga memperbanyak bukaan di rumah mereka yang menghadap timur. Jendela overhead dipilih agar sirkulasi udara dan cahaya membuat rumah sejuk dan terang meski tanpa listrik pada siang hari. Sejumlah pintu dibuat bercelah untuk memaksimalkan udara masuk.
Aksen berupa garis tegak lurus banyak ditemui di bagian dalam rumah, dinding, atau furnitur. Di lantai pertama Ster House, ada carport, ruang asisten, serta foyer semi-outdoor. Ruang keluarga, ruang makan, pantry, kamar tidur, dan minigym menempati lantai 2 dan 3.
Kesan luas dan clean juga muncul dari tekstur dan bahan pada permukaan bagian dalam rumah. Dinding dan lantai polos, elemen kaca, serta pencahayaan berpadu apik menghasilkan kesan bersih nan homey.
Nausa dan Nita hanya menerapkan lima unsur warna pada hunian ini. Yakni, putih, natural kayu, abu-abu, hitam, serta hijau dari tanaman koleksi Nita yang hobi berkebun. ”Dengan begitu, rumah bisa terkesan lapang dan rapi,” tutur Nita.
Nita cermat menggabungkan fungsi dan estetika. Misalnya, storage atau penyimpanan di area dapur yang secara tidak langsung terlihat seperti dekorasi ruangan. Tengok saja lemari bumbu dan peralatan masak yang disusun layaknya rak penyimpanan di restoran. Untuk mempercantik mood ruangan, pilihan Nita jatuh pada bunga-bunga kering yang warnanya senada dengan furnitur plywood.

Nuansa Jepang juga ditemukan di powder room atau toilet tamu. Pemilihan warna natural seperti abu-abu batu serta elemen kayu membuat tamu serasa sedang berkunjung ke rumah-rumah Jepang.
CLEAN KITCHEN
Nausa passionate memasak. Laci penyimpanan didesain customized sesuai dengan ragam dan ukuran peralatan masak yang dibutuhkan. Hasilnya, dapur selalu tampak rapi.
MASTER BEDROOM
Aksen garis vertikal pada dinding menjadi daya tarik. Stylish meski minimalis. Di balik dinding bergaris vertikal, ada pintu yang menuju kamar mandi dalam.
ROOFTOP ZEN
Bagian atas rumah menjadi area semi-outdoor beratap kaca. Mengusung gaya Zen ala interior Jepang dan tanaman ilalang, area ini cocok digunakan untuk bersantai.
GREEN AREA
Green wall di sebelah tangga semi-outdoor memberi kesan sejuk. Area bordes pada tangga juga tak luput dari sentuhan tanaman.

KOU-AN Glass Tea House by Tokujin Yoshioka is Traveling Around Japan
There is something slightly different in the courtyard of the Shoren-in Buddhist Temple located in Kyoto, Japan. It looks like a glass house with simple architecture, with a completely transparent roof, walls, and stage floor. This is the KOU-AN Glass Tea House by Japanese designer, Tokujin Yoshioka, which brings a modern look to the traditional buildings used in Japanese culture to host tea ceremonies.

Since thousands of years ago, the tea ceremony has become a deep-rooted ancestral culture and cannot be separated from Japanese people’s lives to this day. Departing from history and the desire to introduce tea culture to the younger generation, Tokujin created the KOU-AN Glass Tea House as a response to efforts to preserve ancestral heritage by accommodating the aesthetics and beauty of the drinking tea ceremony in a contemporary structure.

The concept of KOU-AN Glass Tea House was presented at Glasstress, at the 54th La Bienalle Venezia event in 2011. Tokujin explained that this project is expected to be an opportunity to see and reminisce about the origins of Japanese culture.

Therefore, the structure of the KOU-AN Glass Tea House is “welcome” to stand next to the very historical Shore-in shrine in Kyoto, as it was built during the Heian period between 794 and 1185 AD. The myth is that teahouses in Japan have to be built in places with traditional landscapes. From this point of view, he thought it would be very suitable if the structure of the teahouse had a view of the historical city of Kyoto.

Made by the glass. The roof, walls, and floor structures of KOU-AN Glass Tea House are designed in such a way by adapting the original shape of a traditional teahouse. For the roof, the planes of glass are arranged in an overlapping manner supported by a slender steel frame featuring a mirrored surface. As for the floor, use a thick sheet of glass that has a wavy surface with a soft texture.

In the afternoon, or when the sun’s rays are right on the greenhouse, a beautiful rainbow light will be created. This light enters through the glass prisms on the roof which is then reflected onto the corrugated floor creating a visual like a rainbow shimmer that adorns the surface of the water. In addition, there are three benches made of corrugated glass which function as seats for visitors who want to enjoy tea in the greenhouse.
Tokujin Yoshioka’s mission to remind people of the origins of Japanese culture does not stop at the Shore-in Shrine. Hence, he plans to show this teahouse throughout Japan, even introducing it to other locations around the world.
